Recently, my sister and I were watching The Bachelor with Ben and the 12 girls or so. The girls each get limited time with Ben & one girl in particular, spent her entire time with Ben talking bad about another girl. Even if the other girl seemed manipulative or mean around the girls and not Ben, it wasted all her time. Afterward, she regretted it and felt as if she had jeopardized her relationship with him.
Matthew 23:3-4 “So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.”
This is a warning against hypocrisy. Ben said, “I watch the girls, all of them and if something bad comes up then I’ll see it.”
In due time, judgment will come. It does no good to speak ill of others when we all are sinners. Do the best you can to be the best YOU, and influence those around you. If you only complain to God about how others aren’t “as good”, it may be you jeopardizing your relationship with Him.
In the end, Ben gave Emily a rose. He wanted to get to know more about her and have the opportunity to have a real, genuine relationship with her.
That’s all He wants from you.
